The International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 18, formed in 1939, is a progressive, diversified trade union representing Operating Engineers who work as heavy equipment operators, mechanics and surveyors in the heavy construction industry and Stationary Engineers who work in operations and maintenance in building and industrial complexes. Serving 15,000 members in Ohio and northern Kentucky, Local 18 provides its members with a healthcare plan, a pension program and quality training to meet the technological advances of the 21st century.

Local 18’s jurisdiction covers 85 Ohio counties and four northern Kentucky counties which are separated into five geographic districts. In Ohio, the three counties  not covered by Local 18 are Mahoning, Columbiana, and Trumbull. In Kentucky the four counties covered are Boone, Kenton, Campbell, and Pendleton.
